Taxonomy
Microphorites oculeus was named by Grimaldi and Cumming (1999). Its type specimen is AMNH JS445, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Lebanese amber, Jezzine (AMNH collection), which is in a Barremian terrestrial amber in Lebanon.
