Taxonomy
Protomyrmeleon brunonis was named by Geinitz (1888). Its type specimen is SGWG 120/4, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Dobbertin, Mecklenburg (Greifswald collection), which is in a Toarcian offshore claystone in Germany.
