Taxonomy
Agrion eichstaettense was named by Hagen (1862). It is an impression. Its type locality is Solnhofen (Hagen coll), which is in a Tithonian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal lime mudstone in the Solnhofen Formation of Germany.

It was recombined as Coenagrion eichstaettense by Kirby (1890); it was recombined as Malmagrion eichstaettensis by Ponomarenko (1985); it was misspelled as Agrion eichstattense by Meunier (1896); it was recombined as Malmagrion eichstattense by Handlirsch (1906), Zessin (1991), Nel and Henrotay (1992).
