Taxonomy
Proteroscarabaeus yeni was named by Grabau (1923). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Locality 218, 1 li north of Man-Wu, Laiyang, which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large shale in the Laiyang Formation of China. It is the type species of Proteroscarabaeus.
