Oxycorynoides was named by Arnoldi (1977). It is the type genus of Oxycorynoidinae.

It was assigned to Oxycorynoidinae by Alonso-Zarazaga and Lyal (1999); and to Oxycorynoidini by Arnoldi (1977), Legalov (2009), Legalov (2012), Gratshev and Legalov (2014), Legalov (2015), Legalov and Jarzembowski (2017).
