Taxonomy

Eccoptarthrus was named by Arnoldi (1977). It is the type genus of Eccoptarthrini.

It was assigned to Eccoptarthrinae by Alonso-Zarazaga and Lyal (1999), Legalov (2010); and to Eccoptarthrini by Arnoldi (1977), Legalov (2009), Legalov (2012), Gratshev and Legalov (2014), Legalov (2015).

Synonyms

Pseudobrenthorrhinus was named by Gratshev and Zherikhin (1995).

It was synonymized subjectively with Eccoptarthrus by Legalov (2010), Gratshev and Legalov (2014), Legalov (2015).

It was assigned to Brenthorrhininae by Gratshev and Zherikhin (1995); to Brenthorrhinini by Alonso-Zarazaga and Lyal (1999); and to Procurculionini by Legalov (2009).
