Taxonomy
Polythalamia americana was named by Debrenne and Wood (1990). It is not extant. Its type locality is Galena Canyon, Battle Mountain, which is in a Botomian/Toyonian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Scott Canyon Formation of Nevada.
