Bornholmaspis was named by Pribyl and Vanek (1983) [Sepkoski's age data: O l Sepkoski's reference number: ZR85]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Cheiruridae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002) and Sepkoski (2002).
