Taxonomy
Epimesoplecia elenae was named by Zhang (2007). Its type specimen is DHG200385, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (NIGP collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
