Taxonomy
Megathon brodskyi was named by Zhang and Lukashevich (2007). Its type specimen is DHG200407, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Daohugou (NIGP 2004 collection), which is in a Callovian/Oxfordian lacustrine - large shale in the Daohugou Formation of China.
