Taxonomy
Palaeopalaemonidae was named by Brooks (1962). It is not extant. Its type is Palaeopalaemon.

It was assigned to Eocaridacea by Brooks et al. (1969); to Palaeopalaemonoidea by Schweitzer et al. (2010); and to Palaeopalaemonida by Feldmann et al. (2013), Feldmann and Schweitzer (2019).
