Kailia was named by Chang (1974) [Sepkoski's age data: S Wenl-l Sepkoski's reference number: 651]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Encrinurinae by Evitt and Tripp (1977); to Encrinuridae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002).
