Taxonomy
Hispanelcana lopezvallei was named by Peñalver and Grimaldi (2010). Its type specimen is MCNA 9898, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Peñacerrada outcrop I, which is in an Albian terrestrial amber in the Escucha Formation of Spain.
