Taxonomy
Tethysthrips libanicus was named by Nel et al. (2010). Its type specimen is Azar 97A, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Lebanese amber, Mdeyrij-Hammana (LU collection), which is in a Barremian terrestrial amber in Lebanon.
