Quinquecosta was named by Tripp (1965) [Sepkoski's age data: O Llvi-u O Llde-u]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Cybelinae by Evitt and Tripp (1977); to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Pliomeridae by Jell and Adrain (2002).
