Rossaspis was named by Harrington (1957) [Sepkoski's age data: O Trem-l O Trem-u Sepkoski's reference number: 795]. It is not extant. Its type is Protopliomerops superciliosa.

It was assigned to Pliomeridae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Phacopida by Sepkoski (2002).
