Taxonomy
Heleomyza major was named by Meunier (1904). Its type specimen is Konigsberg Z4917, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic amber, Konigsberg collection, which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Suillia major by Hennig (1965), Woźnica (2019).
