Archipsocus was named by Hagen (1882). It is extant. It is the type genus of Archipsocidae, Archipsocinae.
It was assigned to Pseudocaeciliidae by Carpenter (1992); to Archipsocidae by Nel et al. (2005), Solórzano Kraemer (2007); and to Archipsocinae by Lienhard and Smithers (2002), Jouault and Zhuang (2025).
