Taxonomy
Axiopsis eximia was named by Kensley and Williams (1990). Its type specimen is USNM 219431 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Wedgefield, which is in a Lutetian marine sandstone in the Warley Hill Formation of South Carolina.
