Taxonomy

Eomortoniellus was named by Zeuner (1936). Its type is Eomortoniellus handlirschi.

It was assigned to Tettigoniidae by Carpenter (1992); to Tympanophorinae by Zeuner (1936), Zeuner (1939), Gorochov (1995); to Lipotactini by Gorochov (2010); and to Lipotactinae by Mugleston et al. (2018).
