Blattidium symyrus

Taxonomy

Blattidium symyrus was named by Westwood (1854). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Lower Purbeck, Swanage (Brodie coll.), which is in a Berriasian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was recombined as Mesoblattina symyrus by Handlirsch (1906).

Synonyms

Blattidium nogaus was named by Westwood (1854). It is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Lower Purbeck, Swanage (Brodie coll.), which is in a Berriasian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was synonymized objectively with Blattidium symyrus by Gorochov et al. (2006); it was considered a nomen dubium by Handlirsch (1906), Zeuner (1939); it was misspelled as Mesogryllus nogans by Wang et al. (2018).
Rithma morrisi was named by Giebel (1856). It is an impression. Its type locality is Durlston Bay, Lower Purbeck, Swanage (Brodie coll.), which is in a Berriasian lagoonal/restricted shallow subtidal limestone in the Lulworth Formation of the United Kingdom.

It was considered a nomen dubium by Heer (1864); it was synonymized subjectively with Mesoblattina symyrus by Handlirsch (1906).
