Mesopoma

Taxonomy

Mesopoma was named by R. H. Traquair (1890). It is not extant. Its type is Mesopoma pulchellum.

It was assigned to Palaeoniscidae by Traquair (1888); to Canobiidae by Gardiner (1969); and to Actinopterygii by Coates and Tietjen (2018).

Synonyms

Mesopoma becketense was named by Lowney (1980) [Unpublished PhD thesis]. Its type specimen is MV6372 and is a 3D body fossil.

It was considered a nomen nudum by Lowney (1980), Schultze et al. (2021).
