Holyoakia was named by Palmer and Rowell (1995) [Sepkoski's age data: Cm Atda-u Sepkoski's reference number: 1221]. It is not extant. Its type is Holyoakia simpsoni.

It was assigned to Trilobita by Sepkoski (2002); to Emuellidae by Jell and Adrain (2002); and to Dorypygidae by Paterson and Jago (2006).
