Paramesopsocus was named by Azar et al. (2008). Its type is Paramesopsocus lu. It is the type genus of Paramesopsocidae.
It was assigned to Paramesopsocidae by Azar et al. (2008); and to Electrentomidae by Mockford et al. (2013), Hakim and Azar (2024).
