Acasta was named by Leach (1817) [Sepkoski's age data: T Ol-l R]. It is extant. It is the type genus of Acastinae.
It was assigned to Cirripedia by Sepkoski (2002); to Archaeobalanidae by McLaughlin et al. (2005) and Jones (2007); and to Acastinae by Chan et al. (2021).
