Taxonomy
Protopaussus pristinus was named by Nagel (1997). Its type specimen is OSU Poinar C 7-59 B, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Poinar coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic.
