Taxonomy
Arawakis poinari was named by Opitz (2007). Its type specimen is C, 7-72A, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Dominican amber (Poinar coll), which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial amber in the Dominican Republic. It is the type species of Arawakis.
