Blattina (Etoblattina) lanceolata was named by Sterzel (1881). It is an impression. Its type locality is Gottes-segen-schacht, Lugau, which is in a Westphalian D terrestrial horizon in Germany.
It was recombined as Sooblatta lanceolata by Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1920), Handlirsch (1922) and Schneider (1983).
