Taxonomy
Platycerus zherichini was named by Nikolayev (1990). Its type specimen is PIN 3429/202, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Bolshaya Svetlovodnaya, Biamo (PIN collection 3429), which is in a Priabonian lacustrine diatomite in the Russian Federation.
