Taxonomy
Pinnixa (Palaeopinnixa) nodosa was named by Collins and Wienberg Rasmussen (1992). Its type specimen is MGUH 21.614, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Viapinnixa.
It was recombined as Viapinnixa nodosa by Vega et al. (2001), Schweitzer and Feldmann (2001), Vega et al. (2007), Armstrong et al. (2009), Schweitzer et al. (2010).
