Mesecanus communis
Taxonomy
Mesagyrtes communis was named by Ponomarenko (1977). Its type specimen is PIN 3000/926, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Novospasskoye village (PIN collection 3000), which is in an Oxfordian lacustrine - small siliciclastic in the Ichetuy Formation of the Russian Federation.
It was recombined as Mesecanus communis by Newton (1982), Newton (1997).
