Taxonomy
Glaphyropterodes sibiricus was named by Ponomarenko (1985). Its type specimen is PIN 2292/1, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Chernyy Etap III (PIN collection 2292), which is in a Toarcian/Aalenian terrestrial horizon in the Osinovo Formation of the Russian Federation.
