Taxonomy
Aedes (Finlaya) serafini was named by Szadziewski (1998). Its type specimen is Universaty of Gdansk #112, an exoskeleton, and it is an inclusion in amber. Its type locality is Baltic Amber (University of Gdansk MAI collection), which is in a Priabonian terrestrial amber in Poland.

It was recombined as Ochlerotatus serafini by Szadziewski and Giłka (2011) and Pielowska et al. (2018).
