Taxonomy
Mariconitermes talicei was named by Fontes and Vulcano (1998). Its type specimen is Vulcano 5006, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Crato (Vulcano collection), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large carbonate in the Crato Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Mariconitermes.
