Taxonomy
Cretarhinotermes novaolindense was named by Bechly (2007). Its type specimen is SMNS 66196, an exoskeleton, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Crato (SMNS collection), which is in an Aptian lacustrine - large carbonate in the Crato Formation of Brazil. It is the type species of Cretarhinotermes.
