Gibberella was named by Abushik (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: S Ldov S Wenl]. It is not extant. It is the type genus of Gibberellidae.
It was assigned to Leperditiidae by Benson et al. (1961); to Leperditicopida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Gibberellidae by Abushik and Evdokimova (2016).
