Taxonomy
Xiphopterum sharovi was named by Gorochov (1994). Its type specimen is PIN 2875/2089, a wing, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Madygen, PIN collection 2785, Dzhailoucho area, which is in a Ladinian lacustrine - small siliciclastic in the Madygen Formation of Kyrgyzstan.
