Taxonomy

Archankothrips was named by Priesner (1924). Its type is Archankothrips pugionifer.

It was assigned to Melanthripinae by Schliephake (1993), Schliephake (2000), Schliephake (2001); to Aeolothripidae by Priesner (1924), Mound (1968), Schliephake (2005); and to Melanthripidae by Ulitzka (2017), Mound and Hastenpflug-Vesmanis (2021).

Synonyms

Promelanthrips was named by Priesner (1929).
