Etoblattina persistens was named by Scudder (1890). It is an impression. Its type locality is Fairplay, which is in an Asselian terrestrial siliciclastic in the Maroon Formation of Colorado.
It was recombined as Distatoblatta persistens by Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1906), Handlirsch (1920), Handlirsch (1922); it was recombined as Anthracoblattina persistens by Scudder (1890), Schneider (1983).
