Taxonomy
Democricetodon kaonou was named by Mein and Ginsburg (1997). Its type specimen is T Li 191, a tooth (right M/1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Li Mae Long, which is in a Burdigalian/Langhian terrestrial horizon in Thailand.
