Taxonomy
Aeschnophlebia miocenica was named by Nel and Escuillé (1994). Its type specimen is MNHN-LP-R.10404, a forewing, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Montagne d'Andance, Saint-Bauzile, Privas (MNHN collection), which is in a Turolian crater lake diatomite/volcaniclastic in France.
