Taxonomy
Aeschna tyche was named by Heer (1849). Its type specimen is Coll Karlsruhe, an exoskeleton, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Oeningen (Lavater'schen collection), which is in a Sarmatian crater lake limestone in the Upper Freshwater-Molasse Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Aeshna tyche by Nel et al. (1994).
