Taxonomy
Oplonaeschna lapidaria was named by Cockerell and Counts (1913). Its type specimen is USNM 59922, a hindwing (incomplete hindwing), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Florissant, Station 13B, which is in a Chadronian lacustrine - large shale in the Florissant Formation of Colorado.
It was recombined as Oligaeschna lapidaria by Nel et al. (1994).
