Taxonomy
Aeschna palaeocoerulea was named by Timon-David (1946). It is an impression. Its type locality is Camoins-les-Bains (Timon-David collection), which is in a Chattian lacustrine marl in France.
It was recombined as Oplonaeschna palaeocoerulea by Wighton and Wilson (1986); it was recombined as Oligaeschna palaeocoerulea by Nel et al. (1994).
