Taxonomy
Orthaeschnites primus was named by Haupt (1956). Its type specimen is GPIUH G55/20, a wing (fragment), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Geiseltal (GPIUH collection), which is in a Lutetian mire/swamp lignite/shale in Germany. It is the type species of Orthaeschnites.
