Taxonomy
Stenolestes belligaudi was named by Nel et al. (1997). Its type specimen is MNHN-LP-R. 55174, a wing (Also includes portion of thorax), and it is an impression. Its type locality is Malvezy, Narbonne, which is in a Chattian terrestrial horizon in France.
