It was recombined as Rhinopithecus roxellanae by Milne-Edwards (1872), Quan and Xie (1981); it was recombined as Pygathrix (Rhinopithecus) roxellana by Smith and Jungers (1997); it was recombined as Rhinopithecus roxellana by Jablonski (2002), Whittaker et al. (2006), Yang et al. (2012).
