Stenomylacris montagnei was named by Pruvost (1912). Its type specimen is MGL 1494, a tegmen, and it is an impression. Its type locality is Lens mines, pit 2, Theodore vein, which is in a Westphalian D terrestrial shale in France.
It was recombined as Dictyomylacris montagnei by Schneider (1983).
