Taxonomy
Lynceites ornatus was named by Goldenberg (1870). It is not extant. Its type specimen is Slg. d. Verf. 385. It is the type species of Lynceites.

It was recombined as Triops ornatus by Goldenberg (1870), Guthörl (1934) and Guthörl (1934).
