Longiscula was named by Neckaja (1958) [Sepkoski's age data: O Aren-u S Ludl Sepkoski's reference number: 78]. It is the type genus of Longisculidae.
It was assigned to Metacopida by Sepkoski (2002); to Bairdiocyprididae by Schallreuter et al. (2006); and to Longisculidae by Abushik and Evdokimova (2016), Zhang (2020).
